Kitchen Aid Shredders vs. Food processors……help please?

I’m getting rather confused. Went from liking Mandoline Slicers to not really liking them. I think a food processor would be IDEAL (one that is good with shredded cheese quickly & potatoes for homefries). Anyway, I was looking online here and saw something abt shredders/slicers? I think but not totally sure that those attach to a regular standard mixer? I might have one of those stored in the attic somewhere, never used so I have to go look but is that what they are or are they separate?

And what is best out of these 3….Mandoline Slicer, Food Processor or Shredder/Slicer thing?

Thanks.
And I know there’s other brands besides Kitchen Aid
I would like to make thin french fries, thin zucchini slices (I call it zucchini spaghetti; then I just cook it with olive oil & garlic, etc. I hand sliced one once. NOT again! Took WAY too long).

Also would like to make homefries.

Would like to shred cheese to make my own mac & cheese. I have a little chopper. I also have the magic bullet but I was thinking something more powerful, like a processor. My Bullet doesn’t do cheese all that well. And whatever else I can think of.

Food processors and blenders: Which of the two would make a better puree of hard, crunchy vegetables?

Once again a question about blenders and food processors, question below:

Let’s say I wanted to process a lot of solid vegetables — cabbage, broccoli, carrots and other hard, crunchy vegetables — what would I want, a food processor or a blender? When you’re speaking of "purees" how pureed will a food processor make of broccoli, cabbage, carrots, etc? I want it to be sort of smooth, so it can easily be digested by my weak digestive system.

Chopping, slicing are not what I want, I just want to know that if I puree a food long enough (please also indicate times for pureeing in a food processor!) in a food processor, that it will be processed enough so that I won’t see the individual ingredients.

Thanks so much again!!!

Ben
Okay, the concern with how "pureed" a food will be has to do with an eating disorder — my digestive "problem" is really a devastation — inflicted on me after a lot of self-abuse.

The food processor or blender of my choice will have to be with me for awhile to come, as my financial situation is in dire straits. I have no job, no income and rely on my mother for support. She decided that it was worthwhile to invest in me getting better so she bought me a 12-cup Kitchen Aid for 9.99 (way overpriced, but for Canadian pricing this is above and beyond what you’d get elsewhere).

Yeah, when it came down to it, I chose the food processor over the xbox 360 because my health (and my mothers) is deteriorating rapidly. Without something to bring my food within "digestive reach" of my stomach, I am doomed.

So, will this food processor last me long, will it stand the test of time and heavy abuse? That’s what it’ll be going through if I am to get any better, so help me out please! Thanks

What brand toaster oven will last for many years?

I don’t like to buy an appliance assuming it will die within five years. I know most stuff is built to fall apart within a few years so you can buy another China-manufactured piece of junk, while polluting the environment by throwing out the old one. I want to know what brands (DeLonghi? Breville? Kitchenaid? Krups?) make products that REALLY LAST. Thanks!

Farewell: do you add any water and do you mix them in a food processor?
Do they need to be refrigerated so they don’t mold?

Best food processors (not too expensive)?

I am shopping for a very good food processor to make my own pet food, mainly to grind and blend cooked meats, vegs, rice, etc. I don’t need a very large one but I definitely want a good, reliable one. Prefer one that’s not noisy and stays put. Not sure if I need a 0 model for this – but I do need recommendations from those who know. Thanks!
