Recently saw the Jamie Oliver special where he talked about how U.S ground meat now sometimes contains something called Pink Slime (leftover meat generally used for dog food and contains e coli etc is washed with Ammonia and then added to ground beef). It got me to thinking I’d rather grind my own hamburger but am not sure which meat grinder to get. I initially wanted to get a meat grinder attachment for my kitchenaid mixer but saw a few reviews of people saying they were getting metal shavings in the meat. Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone else have any recommendations for a good meat grinder ( not interested to buy a super expensive professional grinder ). I am not opposed to the hand grinders if it isn’t one that will rust.
I’m doing a wedding registry, and I’m not sure what would be better for me – a food processor, a chopper, or a blender? i thought a food processor since it can do what a blender can do except a blender does liquids. If there’s one that can do everything then that’ll be better…costs less and less appliances.
if i do a food processor – do i need a 7 cup or a 12 cup?
if i do a blender – how many speeds do i need?
my mom used a chopper – wonderful little thing, but we also had a blender
if a blender does the same thing as a food processor then why not a chopper & blender? i could do all 3, but i already have a kitchenaid mixer on the registry haha
I’ve baked over a hundred cakes over the year with different cookbooks, but everytime it flopped. But still I tried, I thought I would finally figured out what went wrong. I am soo frustrated I have had it. I have an ordinary hand beater, is that the reason for not getting a soft airy sponge cake cuz i understand you need a baloon whisk for beating the egg whites. But what about butter cake? They also turned out tooo firm even though it called for quite an amount of butter content. Should I invest in a KitchenAid mixer?
I used the kitchenaid mixer/kneader to make fondant – every baker and how-to video has people hand kneading the coloring in the fondant a little at a time until the desired color is met. Anyone who makes fondant knows that coloring it is a pain in the A$$!!!. I’ve searched and searched. I need to know
1) Is there a reason people don’t use the kitchenaid kneader to knead the color into the fondant? I would try but I was told not to..
2) Is there some kind of machine I can use that will knead the coloring into the fondant?
3) Will I just have to get used to kneading it in with my tiny little hands?
I just received a new KitchenAid mixer this holiday and as excited as I am… I have no clue what my first recipe should be with it… (I have the KitchenAid food processor as well !)
I know this might sound stupid but im confused. I recently bought a Kitchenaid mixer and i dont know which attachment to use for which recipe….for example for cakes which attachment do i use?
